Driveway Repairs in Horsham

Tarmac Driveway Repairs in Horsham

Tarmac usually fails at the edges first, or wherever water has found a way through a crack. We cut out the damaged area to a clean, square edge, check the base underneath, then lay and roll new tarmac and seal the joints so the repair stays bonded to the old surface.

When a Horsham tarmac drive has damage scattered all over it, separate patches can leave it looking like a quilt. In that case an overlay may make more sense, putting a new wearing course across the whole drive once the weak spots have been dealt with.

Horsham RH12-RH13 Sunken Block Paving Driveway Repairs

Sunken blocks nearly always point to a problem underneath: a soft spot in the sub-base, a leaking drain, or edging that has given way and let the bedding sand wash out. Topping up with sand rarely lasts, so we lift the affected blocks, find the cause and rebuild the base before relaying them.

Your existing blocks are cleaned and reused wherever they are in good condition, which keeps the repaired patch close in colour to the rest of your Horsham drive. The joints are then re-sanded and compacted to lock everything back together.

Concrete Driveway Patching in Horsham

Concrete drives crack along their weakest lines, and once a section moves it can leave a trip edge. We break out the failed sections, prepare the ground beneath and pour new concrete with expansion joints, which gives the repair room to move with the rest of the slab.

An exact colour match with weathered concrete is difficult, and we will tell you that before starting. For a Horsham drive with widespread cracking, a new surface in tarmac or block paving may be the better choice, and we can price both options side by side.

Cost-Effective Horsham Driveway Refurbishment

Refurbishment sits between a patch repair and a brand new drive. It might mean new edging with a resurfaced top, a widened entrance, or relaying one worn section while the rest stays as it is.

Your written quote separates the essential repairs from the optional extras, so you decide where the money goes. The aim is to give a Horsham driveway many more years of use without paying for work it does not need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Driveway Repair Questions We Hear in Horsham

Is it worth repairing my drive, or should I replace it?

It comes down to the base. If the foundations are sound and the damage is local, a repair usually makes sense. If the base has failed across the whole area, repairs tend to keep coming back, and we will tell you that honestly when we survey it.

Do I need permission to repair my front driveway?

Repairing an existing drive does not normally need planning permission. Replacing or adding more than 5 square metres of hard surface in a front garden is different: it must be permeable or drain to a soakaway or planted area within your property, otherwise planning permission is required.

Can you repair driveways in Horsham, and how soon?

Yes. We work from Staplehurst and cover Horsham regularly, so a site visit can be arranged quickly. How long the repair takes depends on the type and extent of the damage, and you get an expected timescale with the quote. Call 01403 839304 to book a visit.

Which driveway surface lasts longest?

All of them last well when the base is right. Block paving and tarmac cope best with heavy vehicles and turning, resin bound needs a solid, free-draining base, and gravel needs raking and topping up now and then. We will point you to the one that suits how you use the drive.

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?

Usually not, if the surface is permeable or drains onto your own garden. Covering a front garden with a hard surface that sheds water onto the road may need permission, and a new dropped kerb needs approval from the council’s highways team. We can explain what applies to your property.
