Road Surfacing in Maidstone

Trusted Tarmac Contractors & Road Surfacing Services in Maidstone

Roads carry loads a driveway never sees, so a road surface is built in layers: a well compacted sub-base, a binder course, and a wearing course laid hot and rolled to a dense finish.

In Maidstone we surface private roads, estate roads, farm tracks and site access roads for residents, businesses and landowners. Our record includes road work for Kent County Council and utility companies, so we know what a specification and an inspection demand.

Road Surfacing in Maidstone

Reliable & Professional Tarmac Resurfacing Specialists in Maidstone

When a road is sound underneath but the top has worn, cracked or fretted, resurfacing restores it without rebuilding from the ground up. The worn layer is planed off, ironwork such as drain covers is raised or reset, and a new wearing course goes down at the right levels so water still reaches the gullies.

Each Maidstone job starts with a survey, which tells you whether resurfacing alone will do or whether parts of the base need rebuilding first.

Road Surfacing in Maidstone

Trusted & Professional Resurfacing & Repair Services in Maidstone

Not every road needs a full resurface. Patch repairs, crack sealing and tar and chip surface dressing can extend the life of a road that is still structurally sound, for far less outlay than new construction.

We look at drainage too, because standing water lies behind most road failures. Clearing or adding gullies and correcting falls as part of the repair helps a Maidstone road stay in good order for longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Road Surfacing Questions from Maidstone Clients

Who is responsible for resurfacing a private road in Maidstone?

Usually the owners of the properties it serves, or a management company, rather than the council. We can survey the road and give a written quote that the residents can share between them.

What happens to the old road surface?

The planings from the old surface are removed from site as the work goes on. On some private tracks they can be reused as a base layer where that suits the job, and we can discuss that with you at the survey.

Can the road stay open while it is resurfaced?

Residents usually need some access, so we plan the work in sections where possible and agree timings with everyone affected. How long it takes depends on the length of road, the depth of work and the weather. Call 01622 244154 to discuss your road.

What is the difference between an overlay and an inlay?

An overlay is a new surface laid over the existing one, which raises the level. An inlay planes the old surface off first, so the new layer finishes at the same level against kerbs, drains and driveway entrances.

Do you carry out tar and chip surface dressing?

Yes. Surface dressing seals a sound road and restores grip, and suits rural and private roads where a full resurfacing is not yet needed.
